I have discovered the power of filling out forms! You can get free stuff sent to you! Yes, I know that I am now on a number of corporations mailing lists and call sheets, but after I found out how much this diabetes thing costs I want the free stuff.
I have gotten a free meter plus a backup, a couple of cookbooks and recipies, lancets (although the thought of recieving free needles through the mail was a bit creepy).
By the way, this dLife group has REALLY been helpful and supportive. I really appreciate it.

I have had diabetes since 1960. I always get my meters free. I just call the company and explain how I really like their system and I NEED an extra meter to keep at work. I go on to tell them I cannot switch to their meter until I have at least 2 as I test at least 5 times a day and don't want to be ordering different kinds of test strips. Trust me, you'll get their attention!
DanWhen I worked, I always had 3 of the exact same meters. One for home, one for work and one in my car. Then, all I had to do was make sure I had my test strips with me. Of course emergency ones were kept both at work and in the car.
Good luck!
