I watched one of my favorite movies last night. My perception of the moral of "Forrest Gump" is one I have always hoped to live by "Stupid is as stupid does", or "Life is like a box of chocolates...", you get the idea...
I have always believed that you make your own way in this world and the character of Forrest Gump walks the life path with an attitude that I strive for. His optimism and social graces are something that everyone should aspire to (in my opinion) and that optimism honestly helps me when it comes to diabetes. "There are a LOT of people that are worse off than I am". That type of thing.
But I also came to realize something in that film last night that made me chuckle. The character of Forrest Gump is a multi-millionaire. His job is to mow the football field of his old high school. Not the whole school lawn, just the football field.
Now, I can't be sure, but I am of a mind that if I had enough money to safely put my kids through school and take care of my wife, I would have that kind of optimism. As I said, I am not sure, but I would love to try.
P.S. I have just discovered that I have a personal theme song. "White and Nerdy" by "Weird Al" Yankovic is wonderful.

I'm not sure about the whole optimism thing with others are worse off than you, maybe I'm taking it wrong.
RobertI am not 100% anymore due to complications, but I always put my best foot forward. I don't ask for pitty, I ask for support.
To know there are others out there having difficulties with the same kinds of things I am having does not make me fel beter, but I see the determination and it gives me a little more to go for.
I guess we all have to do what we got to do.
I wish you well
Robert
