A pop up ad scam? I had a pop up that said it was a national survey of Dlife where you could win prizes for participation.  This is  scam right?

finging a Federally funded health care clinic There are federally funded medical clinics across the country that work on a sliding scale billing working with the amount you make.  They often have dental clinics also that give discounts.  Go to findahealthcenter.hrsa.gov to see if there is one in your area.
I know unemployed people or under insured diabetics often come on dLife needing this information

Generics soon to be release that can help some of us save money or have options for treatments for existing conditions I read a while back in AARP magazine that two hundred generics were going to be approved this year to replace some brand name brandes.  It is amazing.  I do get an email report from the government agency that releases these names.  There are two that I have found out will be released in August that might apply to us.  Do not buy any from anywhere until the are official release date.  Don't want to buy counterfeits from the internet.  The two drugs are:

Pregalin which is a generic of Lyrica.  It is used for neuropathy, fibromyalgia, chronic pain and other purposes.  I believe it will be officially released on August 30.  Good time to call your doctor and/or your pharmacy if you want to try it or know if it is released.

The other generic is Pioglitazone which is a generic for Actos.  It will be released about the 17th of August.

Do get informed about what the possible side effects are to be on the safe side to figure out if you want to risk them.  You can look up these generics on the internet now.

I do get an update form FDA frequently so I like to stay ahead of such things.  Like I said, many generics are being released this year that can save us money or give us another possibility of treating a condition.

I know that many diabetics are treated with the name brand of these.

A startling taste of reality Today I didn't feel well and tested this evening to find out my glucose was at 257.  It was definitely a reality test.  For the last two months I have been really struggling to find self control.  Normally it isn't that high but now that it was I have to wake myself up to what is going on.

We went grocery shopping yesterday and picked up and ate 2 ice cream bars, dougnuts, a cinamon roll a piece.  No wonder I feel so horrible.  It really feels physically sick and the exhaustion that I have is even worse.

I guess this is a confessional.  I know addicts do things in secret and that helps preserve the ability to do that often times.  I am a sugar addict.  Can't sneak eat it at all or shouldn't.  I lose control that way for long periods of time.

I had to give myself a larger dosage of quick acting insulin tonight and I do not like doing that.  It is just a reminder that I have fallen off the saddle again.  Tomorrow is a new day.  One hour at a time.

I learned a new treatment for toe fungus We talk to an interesting doctor that has some very interesting treatments for different conditions.  Today we learned about a treatment for toe nail fungus and a natural antibiotic.  It is actually usually recommended by Vets for animals.  It is a product called DermX.  If you spray it twice a day on your infected toe nails for six months you will see that the grown out nail doesn't have the thickness and the fungus will be gone.  It takes six months to see the result because that is how long it takes for nails to completely grow out.

This product is also used for skin problems too.  You can put it on scratches and things.  The ingredients are naturally found in urine of all things.

I got an 800 number if anyone is interested.  Message me.  I swear this was told to us by a wound care doctor.  Definitely believes in holistic type treatments.

I will share a treatment she gave us to treat diabetes and GERD tomorrow.

To the powers that be... I think most of dLife is so wonderful and I love it very much.  But we are having a very serious problem with many having extreme difficulties logging on and posting to the forums.  Some have left the forums and some are considering it and that would be a horrible thing for them to miss out of being with their friends and the ability to help other diabetics that would post questions and things if the system gets fixed.  We also noticed that there doesn't seem to be any posts from the moderators anymore.  We are curious why.

I do believe in dLife very much.  I know the issues can be corrected and the communities can grow and thrive as they have in the past.

Can we get an update on the repairs planned and time estimates too?  That would help so many to get over their discouragement and open the gate for more people for the communities.

Goverment program for those on food stamps or Medicade If you are low income and getting assistance you can apply for the following government service that will provide a cell phone with 250 minutes free.  I mention this because I believe that diabetics need a phone if they can't afford one to be able to reach someone in case of an emergency, medical appointments, and urgent calls.  You can use these minutes any way you want but I hope those that use it will use it for the right reasons and not abuse it.  The site is:

Safelink Wireless

I hope this is helpful for someone.

Finally remembered to turn on dLife tv for the first time!!! I never expected the high quality of the show.  It seem to have only lasted five minutes because it is so interesting and so professionally put together.  We have it set to record every week now.

If I had only one word to describe it it would be "WOW"!

Avoiding missed opportunities to share in the real world Myu mate and I have periodic heart testing.  Last week it was my mate's turn.  So I spent some time in the little waiting room while those tests were run.  I learned a long time ago that there is a lot of diabetics that get these tests.  There was four diabetics in that waiting room if you included me and I always discuss diabetes when I can.

I realized that one man was very ignorant about diabetic treatment.  His wife said he very rarely tested and I know that he passed out at least once from the diabetes.  He is a regular coke addict and wanted to discuss and diabetes.  He told me that his sugar doesn't get to high. He can get up to 240.  *that isn't high*

I had another lady tell me how she misses sweet potatos.  I tried to tell her that she can have them but she acted angry at me for telling her.

I wished that I could have shared what information I know but there was time restrictions.  I was upset that I didn't have a pen or piece of paper to write down how they can get to dLife.  A solution dawned on me when I got home.  I do have business cards in my purse and I am going to write down about dLife and it's address on the internet and just hand them out telling them I recommend the site.  That way I can make the most of my random contacts with other diabetics whereever I go.

Department of Agriculture receipe base We often have people with diabetes come on dLife that have problems cooking low cost and nutrional meals.  This site provides recipes with more basic recipes that would not only help the lower income but anybody living on a shoe string grocery budget.  This does not replace the recipes on dLife but can be given as an aide to it.  You would be surprised how many people do not have an inkling on how to make simple meals in this world of fast food and processed food.  I remember a lady I know was asked by a older woman how to cook something as simple as a bag of beans.

Again this is not in competition with the receipe base from dLife but an added tool for those that need it and for those that want to supplement to learn to cook with basics.

passing some information along I am just passing some information along that might help some diabetics get a discount on their meds.  This site gives directions to go to various state sites to get state pharmaceutical discount cards.  I am in Arizona and I definitely know this is legit.

Is it backed by the dLife organization? I always noted that dLife would not commit to any one way of nutrition and diabetic control.  So I was just killing time yesterday and looked up diabetic diabetes and there is a site that for "DLife" backed program that costs $20 a month.  Is dLife branching off in this area and I noticed that they used the dLife logo.  I am confused.  Will someone enlighten me and explain?  It says it is a diabetic plan.

What to pass on some information I read the American Diabetes magazine called "Diabetes Forecast" and they posted a new brief in their March magazine that might be very helpful to those of us dealing with diabetes receive some new services from Medicare.  The news brief is as follows"

"The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced that Medicare will cover obesity services, effective Immediately for People with obesity.  Obesity is defined as a body mass index of 30 and above.  Medicare now covers weekly weight-loss counseling sessions for a month and then every-other-week counseling for the next five months.  If the obese person loses at least 6.6 pounds during the initial sexonths, he or she will be covered for an additonal six months"

Now I want to add that there are sites that can help you determine you body mass index on the internet or even better I am sure your doctor can tell you.  Discuss this with your doctor for a referral and make sure that the specialist's office is aware of this new program and bills it as such.  I thought it could help some of us folks to get on the right track.
