Sounds like you are really taking charge of this diabetes thing of ours, Jennifer. (Of course, having a doctor who looks like Robert Redford doesn't hurt.) hope you can get the operation deemed medically necessary.. All best, I.

Jennifer, my understanding is that if certain risk factors are present, the bariatric procedures (such as the sleeve) can be justified as medically necessary. Diabetes is on that list of risk factors, as is high cholesterol. Has the surgeon not been in contact with your insurance company? I would think that he and his staff would be the ones to deal with it... although additional info may be needed from your diabetes doctor. Anyway... I hope someone addresses the issue for you. I'm sure you...

Hi Jen, I think it is normal to be worried about having something like a gastric bypass done and October will be here before you know it. I wish you all the luck in the world with that. do you mind if I ask how high your numbers ahve been?
Hi, Medication is essential to success. I'll share my tip. I take more than one but even if it's only one, this should do the trick. I bought one of those tray pill planners from Walgreens. On Sundays I sit down at the kitchen table and fill it with my medications. It makes it easy everyday instead of opening and closing pill bottles and wondering if I took it or not. Also, the way to taking pills easier is to imitate what they do in hospitals. Put the pills in a shot glass....

Also, the way to taking pills easier is to imitate what they do in hospitals. Put the pills in a shot glass. Swallow a little water, the shot glass to your mouth puts the pills on the back of the tongue, and then another drink of water and it goes down easy.
I hope that helps.
P.S.: I lost 110 lbs without the surgery and I am glad I didn't do it. But, I don't know your circumstances. Good luck to you.
While I have fallen into depression and have not taken my meds or tested for a long time I dont want to read about someone else falling into the same trap. What would you like to do to start an exercise program? would you like someone on line to share with you what they are doing and help push you to exercise?
