Hi everyone! I am new to the dLife forums but just wanted to say a hello!  If you read my personal bio you will see that I am studying for my BS in Health and Wellness and I would LOVE to help everyone out here!  I had lost about 50 pounds and I have managed to keep it off for quite some time.  I have done a lot of research and studying to know that not all foods are the same; each food gives you a different blood sugar then the next; meaning corn might be good for me but not good for you etc.  Diabetes is such a trial and error effort that it can be so frustrating.  I also know that exercising can be just as frustrating to get too, I deal with that as well on a daily basis.  I keep saying well I'll do it later and then later never comes and its time for bed.  If you are interested let me know.

We started a company wide "Biggest Loser" contest on March 1st which ended up being more like March 15th. At our terminal I got 5 guys to come on the program. I broke them in to two teams. Red & Blue. I picked the biggest guy to be my teammate but not for that reason. I picked him becuase he truly wants to change himself. I have been hitting the gym and walking on the treadmill and doing 5ks daily and a moderate pace.

The contest has a challege phase where they have issued pedometers and the challenge is 10,000 steps a day.. I have exceeded this every day so far..  I walked  4 miles on the treadmills this AM.. blood sugars are lower than they every have been.. kind of scaring me really!!

I got the Nike+ sensor and clip for my running shoes and it tracks my times and mileages and keeps track of everything.. the company changed from Blackberry phones to I phones so the phone already has the software and chip that can "see" the nike+ sensors..

Doing well (I think) enjoying the feeling of doing something!

Good morning all! I haven't been here in a few days. Friday my daughter had her baby 7 weeks early. We where a nervous wreck,  he is  doing fine. We did eat a chocolate bunny Friday otherwise things are great. Weather is starting to cooperate with outside walking, one mile this morning, do another this afternoon. I forgot to weight myself this morning last time I was 182. I see my doctor in 3 weeks so I need to get down 2-3 pounds. I can do this! How are you doing? Nancy

Hi Ruth, I live in the prairies of Canada.  We had a miserable blizzard in the southern part of our province and in the neighbouring province.  ironically it was the first day of spring when it hit!

I love California and usually go down at least once a year.  usually San Diego.  I am going down for 10 days for a holiday and work related conference.  Can hardly wait!

Yes, it is all about serving size.  THat is my biggest challenge.  Learning to be satisfied with less take a long time.

Hi Everyone,

I know that I have not been here for quite a while. My name used to be fiesta, but due to registration problems I had to change it to dollar3. Sally, you are still my friend. I would like to be your friend, Faith.

Faith, I live in CA, too, about 4 hours drive from San Diego. I have seen on the news about the blizzard on there way East. Do you live back there?

Most of you know me as Ruth.

I lost weight and I have gained 5 more pounds. I was at 147, now I went up to 152. I would rather go down again.

One way that I lost weight was by serving size. That is not easy, but it works. I use a salad plate for my meals, 1/3 for my vegetables, 1/3 for things like beans, meat or chicken. Make sure that the skin and saturated fat is taken off. Saturated fat puts on weight and is bad for all of us.

I hope everyone is fine and doing well.

Thanks for checking in Sally!  I think that Weight Loss Buddies is really a catch-all for the overall health stuff that we all face.  Weight is just one small piece of the puzzle. Never feel like a topic is not your to share about!

I actually eat very healthy....just too much :)  I love lots of different veggies and eat almost all of them except brussel sprouts, parsnips and kale.  I think there have been a few things at play lately....

1. I have my brother living with me me so I am making "man friendly" meals and therefore eating heavier than I usually do.  I also eat more when there is someone else there.

2. I have been exercising at night and therefore eating late 3 nights per week. Also, I am missing some exercise sessions due to evening committments.

3. Way too many treats at the office lately.

4. I simply love food, love eating out and love trying new things.  I simply need to reign in my portion sizes.

5. you hit the nail on the head about winter blahs and comfort eating.  Doing it in spades!

Yes, yesterday was the first day of spring but here is what it looked like...

I am really tired of this horsing around.  I am going to San Diego for two weeks at the beginnig of April so hopefully it will be better when I get back.  For now, highways are closed, there are accidents all over the city and everyone is just plain grouchy!

I will check in later, time to get to work!
