Has ANYONE Ever Used Their Glucan INjection?

Good to see you post again Pastor Paul.  I have had two major drops before and they are terrifying.  Mine even dropped to 27 once.  I didn't have the injection around.  I got so weak that I could  barely raise my arm to get orange juice from Hal.I had the sweats and was shakey and all that goes with low blood sugar.  I drank a lot of orange juice, some candy, and I can't remember what else.  The orange juice usually takes your sugar up fast.  I don't know if I should get the injection for times like that.    But sometimes I just think it isn't eating enough carbos with your meals.   I am curious how this works out Paul.  You have given me something to think about.

Hi Paul!   Yes, I've used many glucagon injections (or rather my husband has).  It saves a trip to the ER.  My blood sugar sometimes just

gets too low in the middle of the night.  Make DR aware, and discuss at next visit.

Hi, I just joined, new to this network, but your question caught my eye.  The reason you would want to see a doctor ( and I realize this was a while ago but may help someone in the future) is to figure out if your baseline blood sugar levels have changed and if a change in medicaton is necessary.  33 is a low number, this is when the glucagon is critical.  The other thing people need to realize is that the glucagon acts fast but it will not sustain the blood sugar for a time, as soon as you are able to, eat something high protein to sustain that sugar or it may slowly drop again in a few hours.

The other night, my sugars took a dive, and no matter what I did to reverse the dive, they continued to go lower! When they hit 33, I began to feel cramping in my legs, severe sweating, and my felt like it was going to jump out of my chest! I knew I was on the verge of passing out, so I signaled my wife to prepare my Glucan and injected. It worked like advertised and I and immediately saw my numbers increase to 86.

My question, has any of you ever had to use the Glucan? I did notify my doctor, who is out of the office, and his nurse is pestering me to come in and have another doctor check me out! I feel okay, and don't se the need, as it's a 140-mile  round trip, and a copay, I really don't have the gas or the money for the co[pay and have to wonder if its a big deal??? Did you have a need to see the doctor, and if so what was the reason and what did they do?
