I had a little more time last night to explore the site. Still trying to find my way around and figure out what is where, etc. And I have to say that I read some things that disturb me. This IS supposed to be a site for diabetics... ALL diabetics... right? A site where ALL diabetics can find educational material, resource tools, and a SUPPORTIVE community? I read a lot of stuff on here last night that was anything but understanding and supportive. I read self righteous and condescending posts of all kinds. And OMG... the animosity of T1s towards T2s! You know what?... you may be in control of your diet and your exercise and your BG levels... but you aren't always going to be. Somewhere along the line, at some point in time, you are going to hit a weak spot in your control "armor". And the seasons in life when we have no complications from this disease... wonderful! But it IS a progressive disease and until they find a cure for it, you are always going to have it and chances are great that at some point in your life it is going to come into play in your health... even if you successfully manage it adequately for most of your life. If the discipline it takes to do everything right is easy for you... you are blessed. But no one is perfect and you will have times when you slip and struggle to do the right things. Positive attitudes... essential! But, unless you are emotionally unstable, we all have times when we struggle emotionally as well. Some are better educated about this disease than others. Some have been on this journey longer than others. Some handle it better than others. We all have our ups and downs... that's just life. But no matter what we are feeling or how we are coping... we are all just doing the best that we can! Why are we trying to tear each other apart??!! I joined this community about a week ago, rather naively I suppose... and I was excited to have found it. But after last night, I left feeling sad and not sure whether I would come back. Life is hard enough without choosing more negativity. Someone reached out in friendship this morning... that is the only reason I came back. So... the jury is out....

Well that's a bummer that you are finding negativity on this site. I myself have never understood the animosity between the types. In my opinion, Diabetes sucks regardless of the flavor. |

Jo I also am saddened that you encountered some conflict in parts of dLife. I am also new to the site and maybe am naive, but this is the first I heard of Type 1 and Type 2 people having any animosity. (I admit I have mostly so far read Expert Q&As and only just joined the dLife Community pages.) Hopefully the good will outweigh the bad among all the posts and comments and you can find camaraderie and helpful info amongst those of us who don't have axes to grind! I guess all blogs and BBs will suffer a tad from snarky arguments and even insults, best maybe just view that verbiage as ink blots and fly specks on the road thru the information superhighway. ;-) Joseph |

I am so sad to hear that you found some negative people on the site. I have been fortunate enough to have only positive feedback and reinforcement. I only hope that you will stay and find many more supportive people. I look forward to being your friend if you will have me and we can share our highs and lows, both in BG's and in life. I look forward to talking with you. Hope you have a great day.
