About Me:
After learning a lot during my internship over the past year, I'm officially an editorial assistant here at dLife! I'm excited to become more familiar with the dLife community, and I love reading posts and answering questions, so feel free to reach out!
Phyllis... someone else in the experiment made a comment about "interpretation" and it occured to me that the majority of posts I have seen over the years have all started with that one word... "why?". lol. Just another one of the many things that occupy the mind of the diabetic... "what just happened and why". Trying to come up with an "interpretation" for our blood sugar result can sometimes be the most frustrating part! Thank goodness for resources like dLife that help us keep our sanity!...

Hi Phyllis, The standard line is for us to have a balance between food, exercise and meds. We can measure food weight and obtain the carbohydrate amount in grams. However, exercise presents a much different response. The body after a certain period will begin to look for "food", and it can come in the form of glucose stored in the body. As a type 1 I have monitored glucose levels during extreme periods of exercise. They go up and down. After a long day there is also the challenge of...

However, exercise presents a much different response. The body after a certain period will begin to look for "food", and it can come in the form of glucose stored in the body. As a type 1 I have monitored glucose levels during extreme periods of exercise. They go up and down. After a long day there is also the challenge of the rebound effect during the night and the next morning. I just keep checking and moving forward. Hope this helps and as always have a great day.
I second Julia's comments. My husband had a heart attack six years ago and has lost 35 pounds and changed his way of eating completely and it has totally paid off. It isn't easy, but it can be done. We're here to support you! I.

Do not stress, I just took my 75 year old mom for this surgery, she has had it twice before on other fingers. It really was not bad, they did not put her out completely, stitches came out in a week, and now is have 6 sessions of hand therapy. She had it on her right ring finger, and is right handed. I will send you good thoughts and prayers, but I would recommend you get a ride home and take the day off. Good luck, it will be ok! Karen

Thanks, I apologize, I thought I had replied to this. Surgery was delayed because of the medicine. Based on your advice, I will have someone drive me and I actually took an extra day off work. I can't wait. I pulled a muscle in my right shoulder -so now right shoulder and left hand troubles. -This should be very interesting. Thanks for the advice.

Great job, Tom! I have been trying to be better about exercising lately but I keep making excuses when I get home from work... But not today! Your post inspired me to make sure I get a workout in. Keep up the good work! :) — Julia

Hi Sally! I like your attitude about getting up and moving forward after experiencing a setback. I'm glad you feel comfortable enough to share your struggles on dLife - this community is full of people who can relate to you and help you pick yourself up after a fall. Congrats on your A1C and I am glad that you're feeling like a happy camper!
