For the past two and half years I have been a runner. My a1c have average 5.4, and I have lost 75 lbs. However, I'm still a large fellow. I have only sixty more lbs to go. But, I am still a fat man running.
What has been a surprice is how many reactions I get while running. Many are very nice, many are not, and some are just dumd some rude. I had a man stop me last summer in the mists of our heat wave. He said we see you all the time and you inspire us. A lady stop me yesterday saying you've lost "a ton". I wish I could do it."
My very thoughtful answer was get on a pair of shoes and walk around the block. My thought being the old saying a trip of a 1000 miles begins with a single step which I did tell her. I even said a come back in ten minutes and go along. (I was doing a 4 miler and wanted to finish). She passed.
More often you get a head out of he car yelling earth quake. I did say some were rude. Some are dumd and funny at the same time. The funnest was one day it was 38 degrees with wind chill of 25. Teenagers sticks his head out saying "man do you know how cold it is?" He is in warm car. I'm out in the cold sweating and he want to know if I know it's cold. Honestly, I wanted to say nope cannot be I'm sweating, must be 80 degree, here your sign. But when they are in a 4000lbs car and your not; you smile and go on.
It's not easy, It is cold, hot, wet, painful, and wonderful depending on the day. However, when I go for my six months check up and doc says 5.1. I go home do 4 more miles smiling.
