About a year or so ago I switched from the Roche AccuChek Compact Plus to the Bayer Contour USB meter. I was in the process of changing medications because of a severe rash reaction to glimiperide. I was in the process of changing medications because of a severe rash reaction to glimiperide. Since I was diagnosed in February 2009, keeping a record of my readings has been an important part of my diabetes management that I use in consultation with my physician. The problem was that Roche's AccuCheck 360 software, which I liked, would not run under Windows 7. I contacted them regularly, and even they were not pleased with their software department. Windows 7 had been out for plenty of time to fix it. Only this year did they finally release a new version that works with Windows 7. I like the Contour USB, but use the Roche Multiclix lancing device; I think the Bayer one is flimsy. I use the Bayer Glucofacts Deluxe software, but it lacks the features and flexibility of the 360, notably the ability to backup and restore the database or import and export, and the inability to customize the trend graph display. If I copy the DB to another computer and then plug in my meter, it creates duplicates of all existing entries, distorting the trends and averages. I have contacted Bayer about this with no response. If I could use the Roche 360 software with my Bayer USB meter, I'd be satisfied. The software development and update in both are very disappointing.
I.
