I survived the first day. Although, I was really hurting the day after. The pool is about 3 1/2 feet deep, but about 60 feet long. I walked that thing frontwards, backwards, sideways, and twirled around about 8 times. Of course, I had those floaters to hold on to, which took the pressure off my back. Still, it was a real work out.
Today, I went back for more. I did the same amount of walking the length of the pool, but this time we added some exercises sitting down. I'm really working hard and it's hard to work. We did some laughing too. I have to make certain I place my toe first and then my heel. It worked with my left foot, but for the life of me I couldn't do the little flip with my foot. I casually asked if it could have something to do with my right ankle and leg being fused together. I thought the therapist was going to die laughing as he said, "Ah yeah." I'd forgotten to tell him how it was completely fused together and I could barely wiggle the foot up and down.
Regardless, I'm learning how to walk again without shuffling my feet. He agreed, I'm not going to run any races. He said he'd let me, eventually, try to use a tread mill slowly. What he's really aiming at, which I like, is getting me to the point were I can, once again, stand long enough in the kitchen to cook for myself. Yes! I so miss the simple things in life.
I was again impressed with how exercise lowers blood sugar. Before I started I was at 161 (my usual range). After the exercising, I tested at 124--down 37 points. I was able to eat lunch without my usual 2 units of insulin. I like that.
Well, I'm tired. I did take an hours nap, but I'm still really tired. I guess that means it was a good workout.
Until I share again. Sharon

Keep up the good progress.
DeenYou will start seeing a big difference exercising will do for you.
I too see what excercising will do in lowering my BS numbers.
I just did a 15 minute walk and my BS sugar when I started was 146 and I just took it and it was 107 after my walk. :)
God Bless,
